Welcome!

Beaver River, also known as Beaver River Station, is an isolated Adirondack hamlet six tenths of a mile square nestled within the Adirondack Park Preserve. The hamlet consists of approximately 125 private properties, 3 commercial businesses and an abundance of forest and wildlife. Beaver River is most unique. Part of our charm is our inaccessibility by normal means. We have no road access; residents and visitors must travel almost 10 miles by watercraft in the summer or over the ice or snow-covered rails in the winter. Privately owned camps or cabins produce their own electricity by generator/inverter systems, and most are equipped with LP gaslights.

Situated on the southeastern shore of the Stillwater Reservoir, surrounded by Forest Preserve, the area abounds with ponds, streams and lakes. The former New York Central Railroad corridor, now owned by the NYS Department of Transportation, bisects the community and is leased to the Adirondack Scenic Railway. Public rail service to Beaver River Station is currently not available; however there are plans to complete rail restoration from Big Moose to Beaver River Station with limited service to begin in the near future.

The BRPOA was founded to promote an appreciation for Beaver River Station as a unique Adirondack hamlet sensitive to environmental conservation and forest preservation. This web site will be continually updated to improve communication and promote understanding of our isolated community.

Sincerely,
Carol Schoch, President BRPOA
