Acid Rain, Rain Go Away. The April 2008 issue of the New York State Conservationist has an article updating progress made in combatting acid rain effects in the Adirondacks. Although the article does not specifically mention Stillwater Reservoir, there's a photograph of Big Moose Lake and a general discussion of the recovery process of Adirondack lakes. The good news is that there has been an 80% reduction in sulfur dioxide (a major component of acid rain) emissions since 1990.
Also, you can read an online article about the efforts of the 10th Mountain Division in liming Stillwater Reservoir. The story is from 2003 but interesting nevertheless. Click here to read the article.
